I Think I cheated out itunes

I hope this isn't illegal since I'm not technically selling it but I got this sound recorder on my computer. And I decided to go on YouTube and listen to a song I felt like was really good and I wanted to use it in a video BUT I didn't have any iTunes points so I decided to use the recorder to record the music off of YouTube......

Whether it's illegal or not depends on the song licensing. You should be fine as long as you're not distributing the music, but some ads may be placed on your video without your consent.

im fine with that. I just dont want to have to pay for it, ALSO! I got the music for the meta's theme on Red Vs. Blue

^_^ i download youtube videos and put the music on my ipod through itunes all the time. If its illegal oh well i'm only listening to music.

The major music companies are beginning to sue individuals for illegal music download and distribution, whereas they used to mainly sue other companies. An average college student just got sued for hundreds of thousands (he uploaded some of his music so his friends could download it, apparently). They most likely won't go after you if you're only downloading it for your personal use, but don't start sending the music to other people or else you could be in great danger.

Right and YouTube basically only removes videos when the company that owns the copyright material used in your video wants it taken down. And YouTube in general tend to not have much of an issue with videos unless it is strictly a song like C.J. said that is very popular with a download available link. However YouTube doesn't usually act on posted copyrighted material, they do frown upon it which makes you lose your chance(s) at earning Partnership which is why ReachNoob and LeagueProdFilms (which are partner accounts) have no copyrighted material aside from the edited version of the "Go Go Power Rangers" song used in "Go Go Power Spartans."

So wait, This saved the song as a new file. If I used the file in the video will I receive copyright?

It should be safe as long as you don't provide the song itself for download. If you simply use it as a file in your video, the worst that would happen would be your video being taken down. What's more likely is that YouTube will place some ads on your video to pay the music company in return for their song being used. I think it's a fair system.

Well at least it will stay up. Thats all I care about. How much is just a regular video cable? because this roxio stuff is like 100 bucks

I would just download the video from youtube and convert it to mp3.

Roxio and Pinnacle are as cheap as you're going to get. My HDPVR cost $200. You could probably find a Pinnacle Dazzle capture device for around $40 like my roommate did, but it won't record in HD (but even without HD, it will be infinitely better than recording your TV with a camera).
