PSVita - New Playstation Portable

It isn't releasing for a few weeks, but they already have the system on display at certain Gamestop locations. First impression was that the screen for a portable was HUGE. And the feel of the system was actually quite nice. However you can see major rip offs of other consoles/handheld ideas such as the style of the touch screen and sort of the menu scheme. Nonetheless, I would say it is the best looking portable system I have ever seen and the best visual graphics (better than PS2, Xbox and select 360/PS3 games) for a portable--yet the games they had are all junk accept perhaps Little Deviants and Wipeout 2048 which aren't really that appealing to get either other than visually.

I also believed it to be backwards compatible with the PSP. Not at all. So there isn't much reason to really ever get one which is sad considering it is probably the best built, design and overall graphics of a portable system ever. If they ever release a COD, Cod Zombies or Star Wars Battlefront that is exclusive to the system, then perhaps it would be worthwhile at that time.

Not actually. They had all the release games there to test and not demos. I tried them all and none of them were quite appealing aside from Wipeout 2048 which isn't really any different aside from graphics of the original on PSP sadly. Seemed like they highlighted Uncharted and I didn't see it being very terrific either. Thing is, I kind of want this system because of the design and display, but there is no good games out there. At least none for me.

If games in the future come out like a Cod or Star Wars Battlefront or perhaps a good fight game, then that is worth looking at.

That's what I'm talking about. The Xbox 360 had no great games made specifically for it when it first came out. You have to wait for that. Also, I would rather buy one six months to a year after it comes out anyways so any bugs are found and fixed.

It IS too early to judge games though, release games are often stupid. It's actually a marketing ploy. They release the games that would otherwise do poorly first to collect some initial revenue, and then they start putting out better games.

True, but usually you know about good games releasing soon... there is none for the PSVita in the works that look quite entertaining. They did confirm a Killzone for it however, but I was never a fan of the series really. Maybe if they talk about awesome games at E3, but while it stands now there are no good release games nor games in the works that have been confirmed at least.

Agreed. I wouldn't buy one until they announce something cool. If they came out with a new Battlefront for it.. *insert outrageous scheme to sell sisters and buy PSVita here*

I would definitely buy one if they reveal a new Battlefront or something like an all Cod Zombies or something! But they have been talking about this system for over a year now and still haven't talked about ANY good games which is what is making me reluctant. Realize it has been out in Japan for a couple of months without new titles...
