My Internet Connection

Guys, I accidently messed up my internet connection, so until I can fix it, I may not be able to communicate you with until then.

How am I writing this? I disconnected the cord connected to my computer from my router and connected directly to my modem.

If I fix my problem, then this thread will be deleted.

UPDATE: Um, ok I managed to restart my network, but for some reason, I can't connect wirelessly through my iPod.

I went to settings and it wasn't appearing.

I have a Linksys myself.

I own the NETGEAR Wireless - N 300.

My internet is back to normal except, Wireless internet.
I'm on my laptop now and I am using a stinking Ethernet Cord.

Only wired Internet seems to work fine.

Did you unplug both the router AND modem for 30 seconds?

Um, I did that yesterday when my whole internet was out. I thought doing the installation was a bad idea, because I think I flooded my IP or something Idk lol.

I got back the internet, except wireless internet.

Maybe I should try Restoring to it's Factory Default Settings.

It shouldn't harm anything to run the installation again. Have you tried accessing your router's local IP? In your URL bar (where you would normally type in a website address) type in 192.168.0.1 and hit enter. See if that brings up a control panel or log in screen for your router. Not working? Your local IP might be something else. Open the command prompt (on Vista you can just run a search for command) and type "ipconfig" without the quotes and look for the "Default Gateway" IP address (you might have to scroll up or down to find it) and type that IP into your browser's URL bar. Tell me when you get to a log in screen or control panel, DON'T start playing with the settings in the router's control panel, it can mess up your router.

BTW, you might have to be connected to your router, not your modem, to do this. Connect to it with an ethernet cable if possible.

Well. Internet stinks here at camp. Does that help? I can't even get on Xbox Live here and now I have my Xbox back and was only on for an hour today with Chris and Jon.

Restoring my Router didn't do any changes to my Wireless Internet.

I guess my only two options is to: Buy a new Router, or Run the Installation Process again.

I will try installing it again.

And C.J., I logged into my Router webpage. I found the Gateway IP, typed it in my Browser bar, but it didn't take my anywhere.

UPDATE:

I just re-installed my router. It didn't work. Looks like I have to exchange my router. I guess my Wi-Fi in my Router got damaged or something. I hope I can still trade it in at Best Buy.

So it didn't being up a log in screen? Was your computer's ethernet cable connected to the router? Ah well, I could try to troubleshoot it further but it might be easier to just bring it back to the store.

I guess I am better off setting up a wireless network through my sister's Vista Laptop, so My Mum's laptop and my iPod can connect to the internet Wirelessly.

Well thats if My sister's laptop is connected to the Router with a Cord.

I am doing it right now. Supposedly, I need 3 devices to connect to the Network before I get free internet.
