There was a hunter in the woods, who, after a long day hunting, was in the middle of an immense forest. It was getting dark, and having lost his bearings, he decided to head in one direction until he was clear of the increasingly oppressive foliage. After what seemed like hours, he came across a cabin in a small clearing. Realizing how dark it had grown, he decided to see if he could stay there for the night. He approached, and found the door ajar. Nobody was inside. The hunter flopped down on the single bed, deciding to explain himself to the owner in the morning.

As he looked around the inside of the cabin, he was surprised to see the walls adorned by several portraits, all painted in incredibl detail. Without exception, they appeared to be staring down at him, their features twisted into looks of hatred and malice. Staring back, he grew increasingly uncomfortable. Making a concerted effort to ignore the many h@teful faces, he turned to face the wall, and exhausted, he fell into a restless sleep.

The next morning, the hunter awoke -- he turned, blinking in unexpected sunlight. Looking up, he discovered that the cabin had no portraits, only windows.


A young g|rl is left home alone with only her dog to protect her. When night approaches, she locks all the doors and tries to lock all the windows but one won't close.

She decides to leave it unlocked and goes to bed. Her dog takes its customary place under her bed.

In the deep of night she awakens to a dripping sound coming from the bathroom. The g|rl is too scared to go check so she reaches her hand under the bed. She feels a reassuring lick from her dog and falls back to sleep. She reawakens to the dripping sound, reaches her hand down to the dog where she feels the reassuring lick and falls back to sleep. Once more she awakens to the dripping sound. She reaches her hand down and feels the lick of her dog.

Now curious about the dripping sound, she gets up and slowly walks towards the bathroom, the dripping sound getting louder as she approaches. She reaches the bathroom and turns on the light. She is greeted by a horrific sight; hanging from the shower nozzle is her dog with its throat slit open and its blood dripping into the bathtub.

Something on the bathroom mirror catches her eye she turns around. Written on the bathroom mirror in her dog's blood are the words "HUMANS CAN LICK TOO."

Ugh, I'm bored, so I'll make a High Qual short story. Here goes nothing...

Ella ran. The bombs went off in the distance. She panted, and wiped the sweat off her brow. Just as she thought she was safe, a bomb landed within 20 feet of her. She was thrown upwards and her head landed in the dirt. She got up hastily, and continued to sprint.

I have to get away Ella thought.

As she ran she winced at the memory of her family getting blown to pieces in front of her. Of her little sister's body flying up into the air and smashing down near Ella. Of her last words, of her last little smile.

Ella came to a halt at a cave. She went inside. It was small, but I'd do. She crawled inside, curled up into a tight ball, and fell asleep.

The next morning, Ella woke to a few strands of sunlight struggling to get into the cave. The bombing has ceased. Ella picked herself up and walked outside the cave to survey the aftermath of the bombing.

The world outside was in terrible shape. Sinkholes, debris, dirt, water, and fire was scattered about everywhere.


"This looks like something from a movie, only real," Ella mumbled.

She wondered whether anyone was still alive, or if she was just the last one.

The...last human? Wow, it makes me feel like somebody. But not in a good way She thought to herself.

Who bombed them, she didn't know.


Ella walked slowly back to her village, the debris crunching underfoot.

She didn't even know if she wanted to see the results of the bombing, but her feet led her on.

When she got there, she looked around.

Charred bodies filled the area, along with pieces of wood and shards of glass. There was no grass; Only ash.

Ella heard a voice moan. She gulped, and moved towards the voice. It was coming from a man. His body was charred and crushed under the support beams of a house.

He muttered one thing to Ella.

"....Tell my wife......I love her...." And then he closed his eyes as if to sleep, but Ella knew better. She got on her knees and gently picked up the man's head. She whispered to him,

"I will, I will."
