Call of Duty Elite Premium Membership

I just pre-ordered MW3, and I was offered and suggested to pre order Call of Duty Elite as well.

Im kind of confused with Call of Duty Elite, but I know that if you get the Premium Membership ($50 I THINK) you will have access to ALL DLC for MW3 in the future, which I hear they will come out with 20 DLC.

Does anyone think it's worth it to pre-order Elite along with MW3?

Pre-ordering Elite also gives you access to Founder Forever benefits, which include exclusive In-Game Emblem, Player Card, Weapon Camo, Clan XP Boost, Private Group, Special Competitions and Prizing, and much more.

If you ask me, it is more worthwhile to purchase MW3 Hardened Edition which is $100 and comes with the game, Elite Membership, Avatar, Physical Map, Metal Case (in place of usual green case) and a large case containing everything. After learning of the Hardened Edition and what it has in store, I am going to see if it is possible to purchase this version of the game instead of the basic version I already ordered.

Is it a $50 one-time payment or will there be monthly charges?

One time payment for a year subscription. However, you receive all DLC for free.

Eh, I don't need it. It does seem like a pretty good deal though.
