Question about being left handed in some things

I know someone that is left handed in writing but does everything else right handed and even myself can only do something left handed and everything else is right handed. Wouldn't it be logical that you would be able to do those things with your right hand? I dont get it at all..how would it switch?

Well I'm left handed in archery, but right handed when it comes to writing and most other things. I was told that it was actually the way my eyes perceived things that caused me to be left handed performing some activities while right handed in others.

This might sound weird, but I do everything right handed, but could do everything left handed aside from drawing and things meant for right handed people. I know there is a name for people who can use both about equally, but I forget what it is called.

I think you mean ambidexterity. Only one out of a hundred people are truly ambidextrous, and can do everything equally with both hands (so you are naturally right handed, Jon). It is also possible to become ambidextrous through immense amounts of practice, which tends to happen to naturally left handed people (as a result of most tools and devices favoring right handed people). Both right handed and left handed people can learn to do specific tasks with the other hand, but this is not considered ambidexterity. I for instance can use a computer mouse equally with both hands because I grew up using my dad's left handed mouse.

Yeah, I guess that would be right. I can use my left hand for many things, but overall use my right hand. And that was the name I was thinking of, but forgot.

Well I can't write left handed but I can shoot, throw and sword fight with both my left and right hand. I can't play one handed on video games with my left hand tho... I've had friends who can eat left handed and yet they can't with their right hand. But I'm mostly equal in each hand in strength wise but skill not so much.

The reason i bought a ps3 is the following. Playstation network is free, my controllers dont wear out, my mics dont freaking break like in 5 months or a little more and etc everything is so more durable and etc

Yep, playstation is a fine console i had playstation 1 and 2 and they worked fine and i think my 2nd one had a big crack in it from dropping a tv on it and it still worked fine. As for the controllers and mics i have no clue how to fix that but im guessing its not the other console's(xbox?) fault. I would get a ps3 but i have no money and it would be more beneficial to keep this xbox.

Ps) On a related matter to the thread I think it all has to do with how the brain looks at things and what it is comfortable with. I wouldn't say its your choice but its your brain's choice but you can train it to do stuff the other way around like writing in left hand you can train it to do right handed writing.

Random fact) Way before you were born they would do bad stuff to left handed people. I dont know what kind of stuff but im sure it was some type of torture or amputation of the left hand because people believed you were working with the devil...it was very silly and as my history teacher always says when stuff like this is spoken..."People are stuuuuuuuuuuupid." ^_^ I think they made a day for lefted handed people because of this.

Micah, you creep me out like usual. Chris had some points about the PS3, but I don't see how you all keep breaking your Xbox mics so easily. Only one I broke was because my cat chewed threw the wire. Jay, mainly everyone you know uses Xbox, so stick with that. As for left handed, I am similar to Lane and I don't see how people were killed off or highly disliked Chris if people were left handed back then. haha

I think you guys are mistaking Arch for Micah for some reason.
