I said smoking hurts others, not just yourself, which is what a swear can do to, hurt others, not just yourself in the long run. It was just an example. Yes they are two completely different things.

Flareon didn't mean that swearing may cause damage to your lungs or anything like that.

He was saying swearing may affect others around you in a negative manner, sometimes without you even realizing it.
