Chapter 1 (Added October 9, 2008)

Lance sighed as he closed out of his Internet browser. He had lots of work to do today, and he couldn't put it off any longer. “You have mail!” his computer chirped. I'll just read this email and then feed the dog. Lance clicked the “Read Email” link that had appeared on his computer screen, and muttered “Huh...”. The email that had popped up was a very strange one. He could tell just by looking at it that there was something different about it. It seemed to have a mysterious presence about it. A feeling of wonder and discovery, but also of dread. Lance began reading the text on the monitor. “Greetings, Lance307.” Lance307 was Lance's user name. “We have decided that your civilization is ready to Learn.”

That was it. That was the whole email. Probably just some teenager prank. And yet, as Lance went about completing his daily chores, his mind kept drifting back to the email he had received. Should I tell someone about it? No, they would think I'm crazy. Maybe I am crazy. When he had finished his work, Lance opened the email again. He jumped up in surprise. The email had changed! It now said “We are coming to explain.”. As Lance stared at the single sentence, more letters started appearing on the screen! “Be in your backyard at 10:00 tonight.” Lance glanced at the clock, it was 11:26 am.

9:58 pm. Lance looked up from his wristwatch. Nothing, no sign of any activity at all. He was sitting on his back porch with a glass of ice tea. BRRRING! Lance shot up. BRRRING! It was his cell phone. Lance sat down again, took a sip of ice tea, and answered the phone. “Hello? What is it?” Lance growled. “Hey Lance, this is Chad. You okay?”. “Yeah, I'm fine.”, Lance replied. “Okay, you busy tomorrow? I thought you might like to come over and see my new high-def television. It arrived in the mail today and-” Lance didn't hear anything else Chad said. He was too busy staring at the glowing light in the sky that was growing larger with every passing moment.

“Lance? Are you there? Hello?”. Lance muttered “I'm going to have to call you back...” and switched off his cell phone. The glowing object was now very large and seemed to be hovering right over Lance's yard. It slowly descended, and finally landed on the grass with a SSSHHHSSS. Is... Is that a real UFO? Lance couldn't believe his eyes. With a shaking hand, he reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out his compact digital camera. Just then, part of the UFO opened up. It was like something out of Star Wars. Lance started snapping pictures, but suddenly his camera was gone. He looked down and saw the smoking remains of his camera at his feet. Lance looked up again and was shocked beyond comprehension at what he saw.

Chapter 2 (Added March 13, 2009)

It was a human! Lance had been expecting some grotesque figure beyond his imagination. Instead, a human climbed out of the steaming metal doorway of the UFO. Lance was almost disappointed. “Greetings, human.” it called out as it stepped off the metal platform. As it got closer, Lance noticed that there was something wrong with the man's ears.

They were long and pointed. “Err... hi.” Lance answered. The creature discontinued it's approach, standing approximately five feet away from Lance. It spoke to him, “I'm sure you are wondering why we have come back to your planet.”. “You mean you've been here before?” Lance asked. The thing laughed. “We originated from your planet, Lance307. Do you not recognize an elf when you see one? Or do you humans truly forget so easily?”.

Lance was astounded. “An... An elf?!? But they only exist in fairy tales and fantasy stories!” he exclaimed. “You are very mistaken, human. Elves and Humans once lived side by side, thousands of years ago.” the elf responded. “Is Lance your name?”. “Yes, it is.” Lance replied. The elf went on, “Ah, I had a very good friend named Lance once... but that was long ago. My name is Valandil.”.

Lance couldn't believe this was happening, but part of him knew that it wasn't an illusion or joke. “So, why have you come to earth?” he asked. The elf sat down on the stairs leading up to the porch and motioned for Lance to sit down as well, which he did, though very cautiously. “Mm, well seeing as you don't seem to know anything about our existence, let me tell you a story...”.

Chapter 3 (Added March 13, 2009)

The wind howled across the fields as the skies darkened with arrows and birds. The war had been raging for years and now the final assault was ready to be unleashed.

A deep bellow was heard from a robed figure bearing a battle horn, and legions of evil monsters marched forth from a massive portal in an unruly horde. Thousands of goblins raced across the ground desperate to earn there leaders' favor. The goblins were followed by packs of werewolves hungry for human flesh.

On the opposite side of the field the elvish and human forces stood united. Human paladins and knights stood shoulder to shoulder with the elven warriors.

All of a sudden there was an unearthly roar as great demons leaped through the immense portal, their wings opened and stretched out to their full, intimidating length. Seeing the demons appear, the legions of the dark minions charged forward and struck the lines of their enemies as a smith strikes red hot iron with his hammer.

Blood could be seen everywhere as the werewolves attacked with tooth and claw, tearing elves and men apart without a thought. Goblins struck out with their spears goring any who got close.

The elves and men were not to be undone however. They fought back bravely, men slicing and dicing with their steel swords at the instructions of their commanders, and elves sniping enemies with crystalline arrows. The elves' general took to the sky, her angelic form shone as bright as the sun as she swooped down like a hawk at the demons.

She struck left and right with her magical blade, cutting down the demons with ease. As the elves and men saw victory was near they cheered with triumph.

Only then did they realize that the demons were but only the first of the horrors to appear from the portal as the skies darkened once again, with not arrows but with dragons...

Sorry, but the story will have to be put on hold for awhile, whilst I work away at the thousands of pictures and videos I got in Africa.

Cheetahs are extremely rare, even just one. I was very lucky to see a small group of them traveling and playing together.

But seriously, I was in a van, so they would have had a hard time trying to eat me.
I did have the window open... but they didn't try anything, so it's all good.

I LOVE CHEETAHS! They're awesome, by far my favorite out of all the Big Cats ^^.

man they didnt eat u..... anyway animals like cats and dogs can smell your fear. they smell the scent your body sets off due to fear anyway... that usualy makes them feel the need to attack you. i am smartical

I would have to say leopards are my favorite, although Cheetahs do pwn.

did you get that pic off internet? if not how did you get so close without them attacking you for being on their turf cuz cameras dont zoom in that far and if you were in a car how did you get a perfect shot?
