Re: RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
That sucks. I mean, technically it is wrong (sort of), but nobody would actually take points off for that in a math course. They might take off points in a science course, but even then it would be a small amount.
Engineering advice begins here (skip over if you want to save your sanity)
Of course, they might be upset if you ordered 100 250 MW resistors as opposed to 100 250 mW resistors considering a 250 mW resistor is common, tiny, and cheap and a 250 MW resistor is hard to find, probably huge, and probably crazy expensive (but you could make one with a billion of the 250 mW ones... assuming they are matched very well... and you had the space... and the time... and no life).
End of engineering advice
My guess is either the software developers were too lazy to handle capitalized letters, or they didn't see this coming.
Begin rant on no one person in particular
My guess is the latter because, while the people I know that are training for jobs like these aren't lazy, they all didn't realize that water = h2o and does not conduct electricity. (You know who you are)
End rant
To conclude...
Software developers: Ruining grades in return for their job security since the dawn of computers.

Re: RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Yeah, that really sucks man. Like Joe said, it was probably because whoever programmed it didn't account for capitalization variances. After all, in a math program most answers would probably be in numbers and not contain any letters. Still a clumsy mistake for a software developer IMO.
