I think the creator of a thread should be able to post on their thread when it's locked...either delete my thread or leave it alone...

I also think that the creator of a thread should be the one who can lock it. They created the topic so they should be allowed to decide when it goes too far off topic. It's their thread, they should be allowed to make decisions regarding it.

Also, spam is different than an off topic post...

The creator of a thread can request for it to be locked whenever he/she wishes, which then gives moderators permission to lock it without any rules being broken. Also, off-topic posts are usually considered spam.

Yes, but they're not necessarily spam. I consider spam to be things with no relative context anywhere... i.e. "lololololol" or saying "spamz0r" 100 times. Off topic may be off of the title, but it's not always spam, at least not in my book.

All I'm saying is that the creator of a thread should always be allowed to post on it. That just makes sense...

But then spammers could create their own threads of spam and locking the threads wouldn't stop them. There wouldn't be much of a point to locking threads. Anyway, what point would there be to posting on a locked thread unless you wanted to spam? Other than explaining why the thread was locked of course (which a moderator is supposed to do when he/she locks it).

That's what I'm saying. There's a difference between spamming and being off topic. Spamming letters and numbers to be annoying should result in a deleted post or locked thread, but off-topic-ness shouldn't be punished.

I'm not saying revoke the authority of a moderator either. They should be allowed to lock a thread only if the creator is abusing it in an annoying or morally wrong way.

Going off topic is not strictly enforced on these forums (though it is discouraged). That wasn't the cause for your other thread being locked. It was violation of Rule 4, which is "Do not spam. (Spamming is double posting, creating posts that don't contain any useful content, etc)."
