Confident Prey Voice Acting Tryouts
Hello everyone, welcome to the Confident Prey tryouts. As most of you already know, I and some other clan members are preparing to produce a new machinima series. This will be a serious attempt at a good machinima, so I am holding voice acting tryouts for some of the important characters.
Here is what you need to do to try out:
1. Make sure your microphone is connected and functioning. You can easily test this by using Windows Sound Recorder.
2. Download and install the latest version of Audacity, at http://audacity.googlecode.com/files/audacity-win-unicode-1.3.12.exe.
3. Try recording a few things using Audacity to test it out and learn how to create basic recordings. You might want to learn how to remove background noise using the Noise Removal Effect if your microphone is very sensitive.
4. Record yourself saying some of the lines listed below (you can do as many as you like, but pick at least two characters to quote lines from). Act as if you are the character saying the lines (I will write a small description of the character by each line).
5. Export the recording as a .WAV or .MP3 file and send it to me through Skype or email it to halo@shiningepiphany.com

Lines:
Note: These lines are only being used to judge your voice. These are not the only characters available.
Connor Williams
Age: 20s
Description: Connor was a soldier in the Saratin army before joining CP. He has a good reputation among the Saratin due to his outstanding courage shown in the battle of Outpost S-307. His military training has toughened what used to be a kind personality. He is now one of the most skilled soldiers in the Saratin. Connor does not enjoy killing but will do whatever is necessary for the human race to survive.
"Sync on my mark."
"Stay with me, men!" (Yelling in the midst of a battle)
Gunther Barrett
Age: 20s
Description: Gunther is most likely the strongest warrior in CP. However, he has a very short temper. In battle, he is known to take dangerous (sometimes considered foolish) risks, but in the end he usually prevails due to his unmatched endurance.
*Yells in pain* "You'll pay for that, Saratin!" (Was just wounded) (Saratin is pronounced Sarah-tin, Sara rhymes with Clara and tin rhymes with kin)
"Of course I will, I always win. Now die!" (Mocking tone)
"They sit and do nothing but read books and ask each other scientific questions. Their pacifism will be the end of them."
Kostas Ulven
Age: ???
Description: The loner has many secrets. He is also a skilled assassin. The only way the factions could get him to join the CP squad was to promise him the one thing he desires most.
"You might want to retract your previous statement."
"Don't take my silence as agreement or disagreement, take it as silence."
Commander Julian Haddock
Age: Early 50s
Description: A man hardened by years of war.
"Confound it, they've already reached the front entrance! You there, go make sure Jeremiah returns to this room after giving orders to Squad 15. Now soldier! Before the enemy breaks through our barriers!"
Miscellaneous Lines:
"The weapon is still under construction, we are tracking their transmissions and they have not yet warned the soldiers guarding the base."
"How did the interrogation go?" "He's acting up, not answering our questions. We were hoping you could... take care of him..."
"Aren't we returning to the transport, sir?"
"Fall back! We have what we need!"
"We're under attack!" "It's the Vycon!" (Vycon is pronounced Vy-con, Vy rhymes with die and con rhymes with dawn)
"You are too pessimistic, you know that?"

Re: Confident Prey Voice Acting Tryouts
I may post more characters, however keep in mind that the characters I listed are not the only ones to try out for. When you record any of the lines you are trying out for all of the characters in the series. I just posted those few example characters to make it easier to act.

Yes, you did. Also C.J said to me he recommends you do another with a different character. I thought we were supposed to only do two lines, one character but he told me two lines, two characters. So choose a different person Rob aside from Connor and send them.

By the way, the tryouts will end this Sunday, the 17th. So get your submissions in by then. If for some reason you want to try out but absolutely can't submit your recording by the deadline then contact me and we'll work something out.

Re: Confident Prey Voice Acting Tryouts
Send in your tryouts ASAP if you wish to voice act. On Saturday I will begin assigning parts and after that it will be first come first serve. If you want a lead role you need to send in your tryout now.

Alright, I will try to help you fix it tomorrow. I will postpone announcing who will play Kostas until we fix your setup.

OK, I figured out how to fix that problem, but now I can't really record normally...
I think the settings are mixed up a bit when I had Audacity before in my computer
I will try this on my laptop. I never downloaded Audacity in it before.

Re: Confident Prey Voice Acting Tryouts
Okay, that is a good idea. You can also try uninstalling Audacity from your computer and then reinstalling the latest version.

Re: Confident Prey Voice Acting Tryouts
I don't think that's it. I am sure I had an older version of Audacity in my computer once when I was trying to make my own Phone Ringtones, and up until today, I think it kept the settings I had ever since I removed the software.
Anyway, I installed it to my laptop and works perfectly, except my mic is EXTREMELY sensitive. I keep everything in my room quiet, and it still hears noise.
C.J., tomorrow can you teach me how to use the noise removal thingy tomorrow, I am DEAD tired after watching Jackass 3D.
And sorry for not rehearsing my voice for the Machinima sooner, just didn't really get to it.

Re: Confident Prey Voice Acting Tryouts
Yeah, I will teach you how to do that today. Skype would probably be best for that. I'll probably be on sometime after lunch (I eat around 11 or 12).
Today is the last day to try out for the main cast! Submit your recordings now!

DO it people!!! Chris, David, anyone who wants to help, we need more voice actors and this does not mean you need to have an Xbox and Halo Reach to help participate.

Re: Confident Prey Voice Acting Tryouts
OK C.J. I went on Skype just now, and had Jon teach me how to remove noise.
Sorry for wasting your time, I wish I can repay your time with parts of my life, if only my Nazi Father never made me clean the glass thingys hanging from a ceiling light then this wouldnt be happening....
I will now make my voices before he comes in my room to tell me to paint the backyard deck.
UPDATE: Ok, I tested my voice out a little bit, it seems clear, but I can hear a little backround noise, but I don't think it should be noticeable... I hope not.
We will see. I will get my lines and start recording.

The lines are on the first page of this thread, choose two characters at least and record yourself saying those lines.

Re: Confident Prey Voice Acting Tryouts
C.J. already sent my Lines to record in PM.
By the way, which email do I send the files to?
I will make a few Kostas Ulven alternative voices and I have to record common soldier voices

Re: Confident Prey Voice Acting Tryouts
OK thanks, I am finished with my rehearsals.
I hope I don't need to be very good to voice act in the Machinima.
Maybe when I submit my voices in the future when we make the Machinima, C.J. can make modifications to the pitches before adding it to whatever episode we are on.
