Well, apparently it is true. To celebrate the Mac launch of Steam, Valve announced that Portal will be free for download via steam till the May 24.

Yeah, I've played it at a friend's house a few times and liked it, but never actually bought it (which seems to happen to me a lot... I guess I'm a lazy buyer LOL).
