Are you taking the SAT or PSAT this year?

I am taking the SAT in May. Although I am already enrolled in college, which I am starting this summer, a scholarship to another college which I prefer has interested me. However, the scholarship would most likely require good SAT scores and I have never taken the SAT, only the PSAT.

Is anyone else taking the SAT or PSAT, or preparing for them?

I am taking the SAT in May as well...I'm also taking the ACT some time in April...

Cool, are you guys studying anything in particular in preparation?

I'm working harder on math because when I took the PSAT, both times I got almost perfect scores in Reading and Writing, but my Math scores were average.

I'm using many resources but I've found Outsmarting the SAT by Elizabeth King to be very helpful.

Same here (maybe not the perfect score part though. That is hard on these tests LOL) but I am studying more in Math as Writing and Reading are my strong points. (I am good at Math too but hate it so don't like trying as hard on it. )

I have the same problem, I am not terrible at math but it is probably my weakest link. It's too bad because I am interested in computer science which requires a lot of math.

I am interested in a lot of computer stuff like editing programs and things but my strong points is art and writing.

I'm no good at art.

However, I am good with computer stuff despite being handicapped by my math skills. I think my shortcomings with math may be partially related to motivation. I can't stand doing math when there isn't a substantial goal in mind (an example would be doing endless practice problems on a sheet of paper), which causes me to lose concentration and make mistakes. I'm hoping that I will be able to do better on the SAT due to the hopes of acquiring a scholarship.

Besides math, I also want to work on my essay writing skills. Although I can write good essays, they usually take a long time because I am a perfectionist and often rewrite sentences constantly until I feel that they "click". Unfortunately the SAT essay is timed (25 minutes), so I won't want to be spending crucial minutes rewriting my work. After all, the SAT essay is supposed to be a rough draft. Therefore I intend to practice speed-writing essays over the next month as well as refining my knowledge of math.

I just get bored of Math, I have similar reasons as you do but art I am very good with. (not so much history of art but art itself. )

That is the main reason for me. I know it is important but I do know some of it isn't ever going to be used except for in school. They make some things that should be easy/easier hard as well by doing it in a different format than you would think.

Oh and for those of you who don't know what the SAT is, it is a big test that American students take. It plays a large role in getting them into college.

Not me, but i have a major test the next two days that will effect my future.

Well, the SAT is mostly only taken in the USA. There are quite a few members of this forums from other nations and I wouldn't expect them to know what it is.
