Yes it does cost money and if you got it for free it's most likely a pirated copy (illegal).

I use Gimp 2 which is legally free and similar to Photoshop.

Does Gimp (which I do have) work with photo shop products or files?

I've used Gimp, Seashore, Picnik, and many others which are all legal and free. I don't have an actual copy of Adobe Photoshop.

Both programs can work with a lot of file types. Are you thinking of one in particular?

Yes, I want to make a banner for League Productions and have a file to work with yet it says Photo Shop. Oh ya CJ, I am going to go buy a new mic now. Lol

Well if you already have the file and Gimp then why not try it?
