I know some people who use it, but never quite understood what it was. Sounded like Twitter with some styles of Facebook by how they described it.

It's basically twitter minus all the tweets with an emphasis on videos and pictures. People post a lot of gifs as well.

Or just go to the dean's office and hold them at gun point until they buy 100 new routers.

Haha, well I work for IT so I know they would never do that. -.- They are too cheap (ignoring the fact that they bought something like 30 brand new iMacs this year, such a waste of money). But the internet here is actually really fast IF you connect through an ethernet cable. The wi-fi can be good or bad depending on your distance from the nearest wireless gateway.

Re: Tumblr!@#!@#
Well aside from you two debating which is a better computer, it is sort of a waste of money to buy 30+ computers for an IT department without better equipment like routers... Especially if they are low on funds or cheap.
If they plan to waste money like that, they should have bought 50% PC's and 50% iMacs to make it easier for everyone and let them choose.

Besides being a waste of money, nobody in IT really wanted Macs. But now we have to install and maintain them because some higher-ups wanted Macs. Luckily we were able to sneak Windows 7 onto most of them (dual booting).

Re: Tumblr!@#!@#
Yeah, but if that was the case, they should have purchase computers the majority wanted and then perhaps single selected computers (like Macs) for the others. Seems to make more sense and not be as expensive.

Re: Tumblr!@#!@#
Well, many of the students are happy to get access to iMacs. However, they then come to IT with technical problems and expect us to know exactly how to fix them like we do with PCs. We do our best but it takes much longer to solve problems on the iMacs because we're not used to using them.

Re: Tumblr!@#!@#
I personally use PC's, but see no problem with Macs aside from that. They have such different interfaces it is harder for someone to adapt to without using one yourself. I hate it when schools seem to focus on one or the other...

At our photo lab, they have iMacs and PCs. I end up explaining everything to anyone who chose a Mac at the beginning of the semester..
I personally love the Mac interface and software. PCs are good too though, I'm not a lame fanboy

Glad to hear that.
The main problem I have with Apple is that most of their products are overpriced. That's why I say it's a waste of money. The products themselves are decent, though I wouldn't say better than their competitors.

Re: Tumblr!@#!@#
Some of them are, though the computers themselves are comparable to Windows computers now. I find that if there's Windows and Mac versions of a certain software, the prices are almost identical. The huge difference is when two different companies make similar products, each for a separate OS. That's when you pay a lot more for Mac. That's just my experience from using both of them though.

Re: Tumblr!@#!@#
I would say they would be better (IMO) if they automatically were able to run all programs on PC without having to buy adapters/programs to do so. I also think it is a bit more confusing of a set up on the Mac's to do every day tasks, however they seem to have perfected that on iPhones, iPod Touch's and iPad's thankfully.
I am a fan of Apple, but when it comes to computers I am a PC all the way! I would get a Mac laptop however for writing/homework for on the go if I had extra cash to blow instead of save. I guess I am 70% PC fan and 30% Apple fan.

It's only more confusing to do every day tasks on a Mac if you're a PC user, and vice versa. I do things wayyyyyyyyy faster on a Mac now, it's almost ridiculous how rusty my Windows skillz are lol

I can agree to that. Which is why I wouldn't mind using one more often, but I can't afford one nor do I need one. Maybe in a year or two for college if I am still traveling a lot. I much rather the flash drives than hard drives as they are always a pain... They get damaged too easily from movement. My laptop is SUPER sensitive with movement, so I barely can touch it when using it while in a car. (too much movement on the laptop makes it slightly freeze or slow down for a few moments) Makes it harder to write/do homework in the car anyways...

I can move mine a good amount, it's probably just newer technology. If you're always on the go, what you need is a Macbook Air

Re: Tumblr!@#!@#
I considered that before actually. Also, a flash drive wouldn't have that sort of issue (or hardly) anyways that a laptop would of this sorts. lol Doesn't help that I need to use it during traveling a lot as it is.
Almost crashed my laptop a few weeks ago as well. It was getting old and slower, so to try and speed it up I backed it up, deleted excess files and decided to upgrade to Windows 7 from Vista since it was almost impossible to use considering how slow it was with Vista. Upgraded successfully, yet it froze literally in the last few seconds while adding in the .Net and stayed frozen for over a half hour and shut down. Took a long time to correct it (running 7 from the boot up menu, using safe mode and so on) probably 12 hours worth of time trying to fix it during 3 days. Last resort was a clean install which finally worked (removing everything) however it left bugs like not being able to wirelessly connect to the internet on its own anymore or no graphic card support and so.
After help from C.J, adding multiple programs/drives (only was able to connect through Ethernet) I finally corrected it. However to this day it still can't wirelessly connect on its own. Thankfully I have a Netgear wireless USB adapter which enables it to. Runs fast and swift now, but still has that "movement" issue. :/
